Once again, a project Merch by Amazon will not accept. Had fun putting this idea together over a few cervezas con mis vecinos. Their families and friends have long been connected to the difficulties of life as a “minority” in NYC, from moving from Puerto Rico, to the Young Lords, to today.
Puerto Rican (Boricua) anti-fascist activism has historically been intertwined with resistance to colonial rule, authoritarianism, and imperialism. They have survived severe economic hardship and recurring natural disasters, often exacerbated by colonial governance. A strong sense of community thrives on the Island, and throughout all of the United States. Sadly, nearly half of the U.S. population doesn’t even know Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens, meaning that despite their constitutionally given legal rights as citizens, they have to fight harder for their “American Dream.”
Cute Puerto Rican (Boricua) coqui Antifa frog holding a chancleta in comedic design inspired by news, funny memes, and current events.
